My research is longitudinal, interdisciplinary, and highly collaborative. As an ethnographer, I take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of education, utilizing a variety of qualitative methods drawn from anthropology, history, demography, sociology, and rhetorical/discursive analysis.

This annual report series is a collaboration between the Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration and the Migration Policy Institute. Our reports provide a detailed overview of the growing first and second generation student populations enrolled in U.S. higher education and highlights their cultural, economic, and intellectual impact.
